Last week, a photo appeared online of what appeared to be Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber kissing. The photo turned out to be fake, but new photos are now making the rounds that look a whole lot like Bieber and Gomez were getting cozy on vacation.
The photos that appeared on fansite Anything Disney show the pair apparently canoodling on a yacht in St. Lucia. Bieber sports black swim trunks, while Gomez wears a blue bikini. They are seen hugging, snuggling and kissing, and in one shot, Bieber has a hand on Gomez’s backside.
Over New Year’s weekend, Bieber stayed active on Twitter, sending out messages of love to his fans. “A lot of u are tweeting me about the TT #girlrespect so im gonna chime in,” he wrote. “All girls should feel beautiful. a real man knows to treat a lady like a queen. ur happiness comes from theirs. step up fellas. #girlrespect.”
When asked about the constant speculation regarding his personal life last month, Bieber brushed off the rumors about him and Gomez. “She’s really cool. She’s an amazing person,” he told MTV News. “I think that people are always gonna be interested in my personal life … but I gotta keep some things to myself. I’m just having fun being a teenager.”

Justin Bieber Calls His Genre ‘Just Good Music’
‘It’s not a specific type of music,’ Biebs tells MTV News at Q100 event.
By Kara Warner, with reporting by Mawuse Ziegbe
While observers may attribute Justin Bieber’s overwhelming ascension into pop superstardom this year to his boyish charm or that perfectly coiffed hair, most of the “Bieber Fever” can be traced to the chart-dominating success and catchy tunes from not one, but the two albums he released this year.
But don’t confine him to the “pop star” category. When MTV News caught up with the teen phenom at a charity event for Atlanta’s Q100 radio station recently, Bieber said he doesn’t think of his music as a specific genre.
“Whatever comes out of my mouth is just what you guys are going to hear,” Bieber explained of his lyrical stylings. “I don’t know, it’s not a specific type of music. Whatever music I write, I wouldn’t say I’m pop or R&B or country or anything: I would just say it’s just good music,” he said with confidence.
To the busy 16-year-old’s credit, he’s been working with such a variety of artists, from Usher to Kanye West and Raekwon, and on future projects with Diddy, Lil Twist and Rascal Flatts, that the young man is certainly covering his musical bases. Not to mention the fact that he also recently introduced his legions of fans to his alter ego, rapper Shawty Mane.
With his big-screen debut, “Never Say Never,” and a tour with Willow Smith on the way in 2011, in addition to whatever “good music” he puts out from all of those collaborations, the Biebs is definitely exploring all of his options.

Among Britney Spears Singles, Where Does ‘Hold It Against Me’ Rank?
‘It’s going to stick, but it doesn’t have that little pixie dust that makes a really magical Britney song,’ one expert says.

Britney Spears got grimy on her newest single, “Hold It Against Me,” a Dr. Luke/ Max Martin-produced thrashing club tune about lusting on the dance floor. It serves as the lead single from Brit’s March album, and it follows in the tradition of other Brit lead singles like ” … Baby One More Time,” “Oops! … I Did It Again” and “Womanizer,” which had Britney-philes (and even some Britney haters) on the dance floor.
But how does the track stack up against previous Britney singles? MTV News caught up with some Spears scholars to get their thoughts.
“I would probably [rank this] less on the ‘Oops!’/’Toxic’ level and more on the ‘Womanizer’ [level], where it’s that thing where it’s a really repetitive chorus that you could fit on a fortune cookie,” Entertainment Weekly music critic Leah Greenblatt told MTV News. “Two weeks later, you’re, like, dreaming that song and singing it in the shower and hating yourself for singing it through your commute, so I think it’s kind of insidious and it’s going to stick, but it doesn’t have that little pixie dust that makes a really magical Britney song.”
Perez Hilton seemed to feel similarly about the song, admitting that he likes the direction this track takes compared to the work she’s put out on her last few records. “I think ‘Hold It Against Me’ is definitely better than a lot of things she’s done in the past, but not quite as good as ‘Toxic.’ I like ‘Hold It Against Me’ better than ‘Womanizer,’ but not as much as ‘Circus.’
“I don’t think is revolutionary,” he continued. “It’s not groundbreaking, but it’s a fun track. It’s a great setup single to remind everybody ‘Britney’s back.’ This is Britney’s ‘pay attention to me’ track.”
MTV News’ very own Jim Cantiello said the song certainly isn’t ” … Baby One More Time,” but it’s also not “3,” and that’s good with him. “Do I think it’s better than ‘Womanizer’ and ‘3’? Hell yes! … To me, it sounds very much like Britney,” he explained. “Her voice is back, but it still has that dirty, filthy dance sound that I loved on Blackout.”
But what do you think of “Hold It Against Me”? Let us know in the comments below!

Stone Temple Pilots Reunited In Hopes Of Opening For Led Zeppelin, Bassist Says
‘If time allows, there will definitely be new music,’ Robert DeLeo adds of STP’s future.
By Chris Harris

There are a number of reasons why Stone Temple Pilots decided to reunite after nearly five years apart — some are obvious, and others, not so much.
Of course, the financial windfall of reviving the grunge stalwarts for an extensive U.S. tour was too good to pass up, and bassist Robert DeLeo readily admits as much. And then there are the fans, the ones who had been with STP since the very beginning as well as those who discovered the band only after it first split back in 2003 and who, woefully, have yet to catch the Pilots live.
On a more personal level, though, Stone Temple Pilots’ resurrection was purely selfish, and very much an anticipatory (not to mention optimistic) move on the band’s part: If, after the months and months of rumors and denials, there ever is a full-on Led Zeppelin reunion tour, STP wanted to be ready to offer their services as an opening act.
“Believe me, that was one of the reasons,” laughed DeLeo. “We thought, ‘We should get together now, in case Zeppelin does tour.’ I’m serious, man. That would be one hell of a bill: STP and Led Zeppelin. I mean, we could play a doghouse, out in the middle of the ocean, and if I got to play with Zeppelin, that would be a highlight of my life.”
Yes, DeLeo — and the rest of the band — had several reservations about raising STP from the dead — a feat DeLeo jokingly referred to as “Mission Impossible.” For the band’s members, the idea of regrouping was terrifying at first, but with time, the boys settled their differences and tried to think positive.
“For me, it was about putting down some of the things that I was used to getting bitten by,” explained the bassist — who, with guitar-playing brother Dean DeLeo, has been collaborating with Peter Frampton on material for his next LP. “After you get bitten, it’s hard to go back. I wanted to go into this with an open frame of mind and a positive attitude and just have fun with it. We should have fun with it, which God knows we didn’t always have with our career when we were younger. If that’s all I can say, and that’s what I can get out of this reunion, great.
“I think I speak for all of us when I say there’s a lot of unfinished business that we didn’t get around to the first go,” he continued. “Enough time has gone by, and it feels really good to be back. I don’t really want to put too much thought into how it feels — I’m just kind of going with it and keeping a good positive attitude about it. I just needed to get over the things that we all needed to get over, and that’s been working so far. If everyone shows up and does this thing, I think it’s going to be really amazing.”
DeLeo claims that during recent rehearsals, STP were “sounding as good as ever,” and he credits sobriety as part of the reason the band’s in tip-top shape.
“My brother’s going on four years of sobriety,” he said. “We have a lot more clarity in the band now, and I think with clarity comes appreciation. I saw that the other night, when we played [a secret gig in Los Angeles]. I saw it in my eyes, and in the eyes of the rest of the band. There’s a lot more rock in this band now.”
As for an STP record, DeLeo is not 100 percent sure that’s going to happen. The goal for STP over the next few weeks, he said, is to reacquaint themselves with their songbook and prepare for their return to the road. Once the band is back in that mindset, the bassist said new STP material is very possible.
“I’ve always got stuff written, and there’s always a long list of songs that are always there — it’s a matter of timing,” DeLeo said. “If time allows, there will definitely be new music. I think it would be silly not to release new music. I’d like to believe we still have a writing relationship, but the first step is getting reacquainted with what we know.”
While STP were on hiatus, frontman Scott Weiland teamed up with Velvet Revolver, and the DeLeo brothers joined forces with Filter’s Richard Patrick for Army of Anyone — who are now on hiatus after releasing a poorly received self-titled LP. Does DeLeo foresee an AOA reunion somewhere down the line?
“You never know,” he said. “It’s just like STP — I didn’t know if I was going to return. Whether we get back together and do anything, I think we made a great record, bottom line. That’s all that matters to me. If we make another one, I want to make sure it’s great, and that applies to STP and anything I do. But I was pretty heartbroken over [the feeble response to AOA’s album].”

Elijah Wood Confirmed For ‘The Hobbit’

Frodo fans rejoice!
Elijah Wood will reprise his role in the upcoming two-part Peter Jackson-helmed “Lord of the Rings” film, “The Hobbit,” according to the actor’s reps. The news comes on the heels that Warner Bros. will handle the worldwide theatrical and video distribution.
Although “The Hobbit” is slated to be a “Lord of the Rings” prequel that goes down years before Frodo’s birth, Jackson put a creative loophole in the blockbuster series that could make an organic Frodo cameo possible. The filmmaker included the fictional Bilbo Baggins-penned tome “The Hobbit, or There and Back Again” to record his adventures — a detail that could allow viewers to follow the narrative alongside Wood’s character in “The Hobbit.” At the end of “Return of the King,” Frodo turns the book over to Samwise Gamgee. The One Ring blog reported that Frodo will appear in the opening sequences of each of the two films.
Back in 2008, Wood said he’s down to pop up in the fantasy juggernaut’s latest installment, but mused that his character would only be included if there was an artful way to explain his existence in the film.
“That’s the thing,” Wood told MTV News. “I would imagine that if he does exist, it’ll make some sort of sense. Otherwise, I don’t think they would do it. I certainly wouldn’t want to do it. I don’t want to have a whole character piece that doesn’t really exist that they’re cobbling together.”
However, he also pointed out that working Frodo into the “Hobbit” mix is possible given the characters’ back story.
“There’s a lot we know historically about the characters where that would make sense. And personally, if I was involved, it would be to come on for a tiny little piece and have that be that,” he said.
Wood also assured fans that regardless of how the filmmakers plan to include any of the beloved Tolkien-crafted personalities, he’s confident “in whatever they’re going to do in terms of bringing in any familiar characters back, just knowing their sense of upholding integrity.”
